We are looking for a Software Engineer to help us expand and improve our portfolio of products and services which are used by millions of users per month. We are assembling a team of people who are passionate about creating amazing web products in an agile environment. This is an unbeatable opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer who wants to work at a digital media company with great people and the latest tech.

Duties

  • Work on our platform that sorts through billions of requests producing millions of users monthly
  • Utilize cutting edge technologies to combine relational database design methodologies with modern horizontally scaling systems
  • Contribute to existing as well as build new systems using elastic, high availability methodologies primarily using PHP
  • Collaborate with project owners to gather specifications of projects, then lead a team of developers to build it
  • Lead and mentor junior software developers to improve their skills making them more effective and productive
  • Excel in an agile environment overseeing multiple projects where the focus is getting the job done, not red tape

Essentials

  • 3-5 years experience in software development.  We are language agnostic here so as long as you can code, you qualify
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
  • Strong understanding of RDBMS design and SQL
  • Fluent in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax, jQuery
  • Intermediate knowledge of source control concepts using Git, SVN, TFS, CVS or equivalent
  • Great verbal and interpersonal communications skills to work with others who are less technical
  • Team leadership experience
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple job tasks simultaneously

Bonus Points

  • PHP guru
  • Comfortable with Linux administration and web servers like nginx and apache
  • Understanding of NoSQL design patterns and best practices
  • Fluent in JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery
  • Knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, CloudFront (the list goes on)
  • Familiar with cache systems such as Memcached or Redis
  • Working knowledge of .NET technologies
  • Experience extending or customizing existing products/frameworks such as WordPress
